Liminka Bay

At Liminganlahti, just a 5-minute drive from our hotel, you’ll find the Liminganlahti Visitor Centre, offering a unique combination of accommodation, restaurant services and the tranquillity of nature on the shores of Finland’s most famous bird wetland. Services include a cosy nature hotel, café-restaurant, delicious breakfast, summer menu, lunch, summer activities, meeting and event facilities, as well as tailored services for groups.

The summer programme at Liminganlahti includes bingo, sing-along evenings and guided visits to birdwatching towers, among other activities.

Liminganlahti is an internationally renowned and valuable bird habitat and an important resting area for migratory birds. Around 200 bird species can be spotted in the area, and binoculars are available to borrow from the Visitor Centre. The two-storey birdwatching tower is approximately 600 metres from the Visitor Centre. The wide boardwalk is accessible to people with reduced mobility and suitable for those travelling with prams or pushchairs.

The Visitor Centre grounds feature a large campfire area with several fire pits, as well as a small playground for children. It is also possible to stay overnight in a caravan or motorhome in the grounds for a small fee. No advance reservations are required for the motorhome parking area; spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and payment should be made according to the instructions provided on site.

Liminka Bay is a birdwatcher’s paradise.

Café-Restaurant

At the Liminganlahti Café-Restaurant, you can enjoy responsibly produced Löfbergs Fairtrade coffee as well as a selection of freshly baked sweet and savoury treats. Our homemade pancakes and salmon sandwiches made with homemade archipelago bread carry the Arctic Food Lab label.

In our kitchen, we strive to favour locally produced ingredients, organic products whenever possible, and responsible choices. The eggs we use come directly from a farm in Lumijoki, while our oats are sourced directly from a producer in Kempele. We also make every effort to favour local producers when it comes to vegetables, berries and flour.

We also offer gluten-free and vegan options.

The Liminganlahti Nature Centre offers information about the Liminka Bay area and its birdlife. The Liminganlahti Bird Nature Centre invites even beginners to discover the fascinating world of birds!
